If the Dare has a heartbeat, it belongs to Phathisani Sibanda.
Phathisani Sibanda is one of Zimbabwe's best-loved radio voices — a broadcaster whose warmth,
quick humour and command of the studio have kept him at the top of the dial across three stations.
Known on air as "Mkwasha Mboko" and "Shumbapazvese", he first rose to national fame co-hosting
the Star FM drive show with KVG, before moving to ZBC's Power FM in 2021 to front the *Champions
League Breakfast* with Tinashe Chikuse. In May 2023 the duo brought that same energy to Capitalk
100.4FM's breakfast slot, and Phathisani has also presented the station's afternoon Harare Drive.
In 2018 he was first runner-up for Media Personality of the Year at the Megafest National Business
Awards. A gifted linguist at home in Shona, Ndebele, Nyanja, Tswana, Kalanga, English and Tonga, he
can reach almost any listener in the country in their own language.
As the convener and anchor of Dare Remachinda, Phathisani sets the tone: honest, unhurried, quick
to laugh and never afraid of the difficult subject. He has taken the platform far beyond the studio,
hosting live Dare gatherings in Harare, Mutare, Hwange, Victoria Falls and South Africa.
*"We are excited to be joining Capitalk 100.4FM and to have the opportunity to connect with a new
audience. We are looking forward to bringing our energy and enthusiasm to the breakfast show, and we
can't wait to get started."* — Phathisani Sibanda, on joining Capitalk 100.4FM (May 2023)
